BEHIND THE SCENES

As you see below, there is a lot of stuff that goes on behind the camera, from the camera department, lighting and grips, set decoration, props, wardrobe and catering. Here are just some of the fun times had on set while making these films.

ABROAD

Langara Film Arts students are thrown into the deep end on their Film Arts programme, with writers, directors and actors all switching hats and collaborating to get their projects in the can! Students from Mexico, Brazil, Pakistan, UK and Canada joined forces to work on 'Abroad'.

And...Action!

Believe it or not, And...Action was not filmed in an actual hospital. The kind staff at the Langara Nursing school kindly offered up their rooms for the day to let the film arts students get the perfect backdrop for their production.

Detective Ultra

Superb work from the art department, makeup and costume team on 'Detective Ultra' transformed Langara College's offices into the hidden lair of a 1940's secret agent.

Detention

Remember you're first food fight at school? The production team behind 'Detention' sprinkled actors food, littered the floor with paper airplanes, and made an improvised dance routine to bring a high school nostalgia to their teenage romantic drama.

Flipside

Students flexed their skills in special effects makeup and post production visual effects to bring to life the multi-dimensional thriller 'Flip-side'.

Mak & Fran

The 'Mak & Fran' team were constantly the checking skies for snow, which was forecast for the day of their shoot, but luckily it never came! Director's Vinicius' was drawn to the trippy tale of two potheads thanks to his personal experiences living with weed smoker whilst studying at college in Boston!

Off Objective

Weeks of stunt rehearsals went into the action-packed secret agent shoot-out in 'Off Objective'. The underground section of Langara's science building also made for an ideal hostage hideout.

Opportunity

The ingenuity of the Film Arts students was in full effect on 'Opportunity' as they repurposed polystyrene box lids to look like granite grave stones for the cemetery scene, set on the lawn Langara's main front entrance.

The Snack

The actors of 'The Snack' had to dig deep into their wardrobes to find the perfect 80's inspired outfits for their film. Check out that headband and classic kick combo!

The Interview

Actors on 'The Interview' studied the symptoms of people suffering from depression and anxiety in order to give a realistic portrayal of their characters.

The Ticket

Whilst filming 'The Ticket', the camera team filmed some scenes at 120 frames per second, in order to integrate a slow-motion segment into their hectic action sequence finale.
