LET'S TALK ABOUT POSTERS

Updated: Dec 17, 2020

Don't judge a book by its cover, or should we say don't judge a film by its poster?

How many times we found ourselves scrolling through film posters (or TV shows posters), for example, on Netflix to see which one we would like to watch next?

Do you think posters helps you choose the film? Or is the title? Or the cast? Or you watch it ONLY because of someone else's recommendation? Maybe you have done all of this!

For sure a good poster helps to instigate the audience. It gives some ideas about what is in the film, who is in the film, and who is behind the film. Amongst tons of titles here and there, a film poster has a purpose to catch the audience's eyes without spoiling the story.

It is not only about graphic design. A film poster requires a correct placement of its elements in order to create an harmonic decoy that translates the main idea of the film at the same time that it serves as an invitation to the audience.

"Hey! You! Look at me! Would you like to watch me?"

"Sure! Are you one of the LCFA 2020 student films?"

"How did you know?"

"I can see how amazing and well designed you are! Can't wait to watch you all!"

And now that the audience is intrigued and seduced, let's see more of those beauties:

Those amazing films are going to be screened at the Unlock The Vault Film Festival, which by the way also has a killer poster:
